“What about it? 盖茨比趁机从汤姆的桎梏下脱身,与这个浑身肌肉的精英莽汉保持距离,还嘴道: “I guess your friend Walter Chase wasn#039;t too proud to come in on it.(你朋友都不介意与我合作。)”
汤姆瞬间被激怒了,跨步过去掐住了盖茨比的脖子:“And you left him in the lurch, didn#039;t you? You let him go to jail for a month over in New Jersey.(这就是你让他替你顶罪入狱的理由?)”
He was very glad to pick up some money, old sport.(老哥,是他自己一无所有来跪舔我,能捞点钱他求之不得。)”
“Don#039;t you call me #039;old sport#039;!
他抿着泛白的嘴唇挣扎起来,但汤姆不给他机会,手劲加重将他按在墙上,一字一句咬牙切齿道:“That drug store business was just small change, but you#039;ve got something on now that Walter#039;s afraid to tell me about.(药房的事也就算了,你现在可是搞出个大新闻,连瓦尔特都不敢告诉我。)”
I can#039;t stand this any more.(求求你汤姆!
他放开挣扎的盖茨比,掏出手帕擦了擦手,戏谑地说:“You two start on home, Daisy. In Mr. Gatsby#039;s car.(你坐这位盖茨比先生的车,我们回家解决。)”
